FLAVORS FROM THE MOUNTAINS

About us

AN ELEVATED COFFEE EXPERIENCE

We pride ourselves in offering an elevated coffee experience. Every cup is prepared with the utmost care and attention.

BACKSTORY

One of the most debated subjects is the origin of coffee. The earliest credible evidence of coffee-drinking goes back to the 15th century in Yemen. Coffee was used to increase concentration and in the 17th century, it later sparked a social revolution. Since then coffee drinking has remained the same. The coffee cherries are picked, roasted and brewed. While we cannot speak for the coffee of the early centuries, we will let our Matari coffee speaks for itself. For its rich taste and texture remains as authentic as the first cup brewed. Come take a sip and travel back in time to an ancient civilization, with a cup of Matari in hand.

BANI MATAR

Bani Matar is one of the most extensive coffee growing areas in Yemen, stretching out to the west of the capital, Sana'a. It is renowned for producing the finest types of Yemeni coffee and that is due the high-altitude regions.

FLAVORS FROM THE MOUNTAINS

Visitors are welcome to climb the steep slopes of the Bani Matar mountains and witness the coffee growing. There you will see the history of coffee unfold as you first sip on the exotic flavors of the mountain.

OUR HERITAGE IS OUR PROMISE

From our ancestors to the future generations, we continue to preserve our land. Diligently plowed and rained, the Bani Matar lands harvest the best coffee cherry crops. When the coffee cherries are red, ripe, and ready, the Bani Matar people pick them by hand. The cherries are then stored to dry away in a dark space and then returned to the sunlight where they continue to dry. Once fully dried, only the ripest of cherries are selected and packaged for shipping.
